This peaceful, remote valley in the region of southern Tennessee, known as the Cumberland Plateau, plans to host the fourth annual Southern Tennessee Plunge Marathon & Half Marathon, set for the early fall season of 2013. The course runs through the historic city of Winchester, the birthplace of both legendary entertainer Dinah Shore and longtime University of Tennessee football coach Philip Fulmer. Nestled in the valley of the Elk River, near the Tims Ford Lake and Dam, and about a 20-minute drive from the nationally-renowned campus of the University of the South, Winchester offers a course filled with rolling hills along scenic country roads, through the nearby town of Decherd and across a bridge that takes runners over one of the easternmost fingers of the Tims Ford Lake. Experience true southern charm during the event as local volunteers and race enthusiasts line the streets to cheer you on!
